The largest construction project in Ljubljana begins
Emonika: The construction of Ljubljana’s most ambitious urban development endeavor is now underway. Financed by the esteemed Hungarian banking powerhouse, OTP, this project marks a significant milestone for the city’s landscape. Anticipated to reach completion by 2026, Emonika promises to redefine urban living and commerce in Slovenia’s capital.
At the heart of the development lies a vision encompassing residential living, retail extravagance, corporate hubs, and hospitality elegance – all seamlessly integrated around the central railway station. Spearheading this transformative venture is Mendota Invest, a subsidiary of the OTP group, having secured the requisite construction permits and set to commence operations this March.
With an investment exceeding 350 million euros, this undertaking represents OTP’s largest commitment in Slovenia to date—a testament to their confidence in the region’s potential.
Sandor Csanyi, President and CEO of OTP Group, expressed his conviction during a press conference following the permit acquisition, asserting, “I firmly believe that this project will not only enhance the cityscape but also enrich the lives of its inhabitants. Moreover, it signifies a pivotal moment for Slovenia’s real estate market, showcasing unprecedented ambition and scale.”
Pal Forgacs, Director of Mendota Invest, echoed Csanyi’s sentiments, envisioning Emonika as a beacon of economic vitality and social cohesion.
From contemporary residences boasting 187 units, complemented by underground parking and storage facilities, to a sprawling business center spanning 15,000 square meters, Emonika promises diversity in its offerings. Towering over the skyline will be a prestigious office complex, commanding attention as the tallest edifice in Ljubljana, offering an additional 20,000 square meters of office space.
Adjacent to this corporate haven, a bustling shopping arcade awaits, boasting 80 boutiques across 21,500 square meters. Furthermore, two luxurious hotels are set to grace the premises—the first, a three-star establishment with over 180 rooms, and the second, a four-star haven featuring more than 200 rooms and deluxe apartments, complete with exclusive dining venues, lounges, conference facilities, and private terraces.
In summary, Emonika represents a bold leap forward for Ljubljana – a testament to its enduring growth and prosperity on the global stage.
