The Slovenian housing stock plans to build 20 thousand apartments according to the Vienna model.
The housing fund builds housing. The head of the State Housing Fund of the Republic of Slovenia (Stanovanjski sklad RS) Črtomir Remec recently stated that the goal of building an additional twenty thousand rental apartments in the next ten years is very optimistic, but feasible.
He is convinced that the investment model used by the municipality of Vienna can and should be applied to the maximum extent in Slovenia.
Vienna is planning to create a land reserve and offers it for subsidized housing construction at a very low price, while simultaneously providing favorable financing.
“We understand that Ljubljana cannot provide such favorable loans, since it is not as rich as Vienna, whose GDP is three times higher, but the state can come to the rescue,” says Mr. Remec.
