Investors focus on digital and logistics.
International investment organizations intend to pay more attention to investments in real estate next year. Digital infrastructure and logistics real estate are considered promising areas. This is stated in the study of the international management company Aviva Investors.
More than a thousand representatives of insurance and pension funds engaged in investments in various fields, which manage assets totaling $ 2.3 trillion, were interviewed. 49% of the surveyed representatives of insurance funds and 37% of the surveyed representatives of pension funds are guided by investments in real assets, such as real estate, energy or infrastructure.
“As banks intend to maintain low base rates for the foreseeable future, we expect institutional investors to become increasingly interested in real assets to generate returns and diversify their investments,” said Marc Versy, investment director at Real Assets Aviva Investors.
Despite being transferred to remote work, 57% of surveyed insurers and 53% of surveyed retirement funds believe that the long-term trend of working from home will provide the best investment opportunities in real assets. In second place is investments in the development of data centers: 51% of insurers and 43% of representatives of pension funds. 49% of insurers and 43% of representatives of pension funds are ready to invest in the logistics sector.
Mark Versi noted that investors are looking for new opportunities due to the changes caused by the pandemic. Investors are focused on digital (data centers) and logistics. This could be an increasing reliance on digital infrastructure for teleworking and the growing importance of logistics real estate as the demand for e-commerce grows.
